Who Belongs to PASCV?

PASCV membership is open to laboratory directors, practicing physicians, research virologists, postdoctoral fellows, laboratory technologists and technicians throughout the world.

Why Join?

Among the many benefits of PASCV membership, perhaps the greatest for me is the ability to network with clinical virologists from around the world. The Molecular Virology Workshop serves as an excellent venue for sharing information regarding the epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of viral diseases with clinicians, laboratorians, and researchers. For me, PASCV membership is vital to the practice of clinical virology and it serves as a unique resource that has proven time and time again to be invaluable. – Ryan Relich, Ph.D., D(ABMM), MLS(ASCP)SM; IU Health Pathology Laboratory

I am a young virologist and have several reasons to become a PASCV member. First of all, PASCV has introduced me to a thrilling field of clinical virology and molecular diagnostics. Here I am extremely excited to meet so many seasoned clinical virologists and learn a lot about alternative careers in virology. More importantly, PASCV is a special professional society as it feels like a family. The members are very interactive and willing to share idea on career development. Trainees and junior members like me have a lot of opportunities to get involved in a variety of academic activities of the Society. Overall, PASCV is really a fantastic society to join and I have got a lot of fun! - Baoming Liu, Ph.D.; NIAID, NIH

PASCV membership has numerous benefits, among which the educational content and networking opportunities have really been most valuable. PASCV members have access to free webinars which cover a variety of clinical virology topics and also to E-Journal Clubs, during which experts in the field review recently published and impactful studies. The discounts received as part of PASCV membership for both the Molecular Virology Workshop and ASM's Clinical Virology Symposium allow for more opportunities to travel and network with others in the field. For me, this has led to multiple scientific collaborations and the establishment of life-long colleagues and friends in the community! – Elitza S. Theel, Ph.D., D(ABMM); Mayo Clinic

My interest in the Pan American Society for Clinical Virology originally stems from my training in graduate school where my thesis was on CMV and I was able to train in a Clinical Virology laboratory. I started attending ASM's Clinical Virology Symposium in the late 1990s-early 2000 when I was still in graduate school in Tampa, FL. I’m sorry to say I haven’t joined until recently, and what I haven’t truly appreciated until now is the sense of professional pride knowing that I am part of a premier scientific organization that has helped guide some policy changes and has a real positive effect in clinical practice. And lastly, I can claim I'm in the same group as some of the “rock-stars” of Clinical Virology. – Rodney Arcenas, Ph.D.; Roche Molecular Systems
