A 3 -month-old female born full term at 40 weeks presents at ID clinic for an initial consult of possible congenital chorioretinitis. Mom’s prenatal care was performed in Mexico. Per mom, the family was taking care of stray, feral kittens (and other small animals) when mom was pregnant, and she experienced a "flu-like" illness at two months gestation. The patient presented with a right chorioretinal scar in the setting of preferential left gaze/ right horizontal gaze palsy, presumably since birth, and microcephalic appearance. No hepatosplenomegaly or rashes were observed on the direct exam, and she passed her newborn hearing screen. Follow-up exams revealed developmental delay and seizures. Serology and CSF antibody levels confirmed the diagnosis.
