2026 Career Achievement Award Recipients

PASCV's scientific and career achievement awards program is designed to foster and recognize research excellence, leadership, and outstanding technical achievement in the field of clinical virology. These distinguished awards are designed to recognize outstanding scientific contributions by individuals dedicated to advancing the scientific understanding and medical practice of viral human diseases.

Outstanding Clinical Laboratory Professional Award

The PASCV Outstanding Clinical Laboratory Professional Award recognizes a bench-level clinical laboratory scientist (CLS) professional (i.e., lab supervisors, managers, technologists, and technicians) who has made significant contributions to the field of clinical or diagnostic virology.

 

Clinical Virology Award

The Clinical Virology Award recognizes an outstanding scientist whose contributions to clinical virology have had a major impact on the understanding of viral disease pathogenesis, epidemiology or treatment.


Diagnostic Virology Award

The Diagnostic Virology Award recognizes an outstanding scientist whose contributions to viral diagnosis have had a major impact on the discipline.

 

Young Investigator Award

The PASCV Young Investigator Award recognizes a scientist who has made significant contributions to the field of clinical or diagnostic virology in the early years of their career.

All you need to nominate is some basic information and acopy of the nominee's CV. PASCV has rolling/open nominations for the Career Achievement Awards. Awards are presented at the PASCV annual meeting to recognize the outstanding work of theseindividuals.

Criteria for each award:

Outstanding Clinical Laboratory Professional Award: The PASCV Outstanding Clinical Laboratory Professional Award recognizes a bench-level clinical laboratory scientist (CLS) professional (i.e., lab supervisors, managers, technologists, and technicians) who has made significant contributions to the field of clinical or diagnostic virology. Clinical laboratory professionals who have demonstrated a commitment to the profession and have made significant contributions to the clinical laboratory community through teaching, training, mentoring, and professional development will also be considered. This award is made in honor of the individuals that have a major impact on patient care by providing high-quality clinical laboratory testing every day.

Ed Nowakowski Clinical Virology Award: Ed Nowakowski was the Founder and President of Bion Enterprises. He was a brilliant scientist and an influential member of PASCV during its formative years. The Clinical Virology Award recognizes an outstanding scientist whose contributions to clinical virology have had a major impact on the understanding of viral disease pathogenesis, epidemiology or treatment.

Diagnostic Virology Award: The Diagnostic Virology Award recognizes an outstanding scientist whose contributions to viral diagnosis have had a major impact on the discipline.

Young Investigator Award: The Young Investigator Award recognizes a scientist who has made significant contributions to the field of clinical or diagnostic virology in the early years of their career. Nominees must hold a doctoral degree and be under the age of 40 or be less than 10 years from the completion of their doctoral degree at the time the award is presented.
