PASCV Committees

Committees are at the heart of PASCV. Through our network of volunteers, committees formulate, create, and bring great ideas to life. If you have interacted with PASCV in any way, you can be sure a volunteer has been at the heart of it.

The purpose of the Clinical Practice and Public Policy Committee is to ensure that the mission of the PASCV is advanced through the promotion of clinical, scientific, and technical resources that will allow members to achieve outstanding patient care and research. The Committee will achieve these strategic goals, through, among other things,
(1) monitoring policy issues which have relevance to the PASCV,
(2) advising the membership of relevant policy issues,
(3) increasing name recognition of the PASCV among key influential audiences,
(4) developing resources for clinical virology practice and research in the form of white papers, guidelines and best practice documents.

The purpose of the Digital Outreach Committee is to develop and maintain innovative ways for members to learn and interact virtually. The Committee will achieve these strategic goals, through, among other things,
(1) leveraging existing platforms (e.g., PASCV Forum and social media) to bring members together to discuss important issues related to diagnostic virology, address problems, and identify solutions, and
(2) creating and overseeing the development of online educational resources (e.g. literature review, FAQ pages, online case reviews) to supplement PASCV’s continuing education meetings and webinars. elines and best practice documents.

The purpose of the Education Committee is to plan and implement meetings and webinars for global attendees that deliver diverse and cutting-edge science and explore the latest trends, technologies, and developments in viral diagnostic testing. The Committee will achieve these strategic goals, through, among other things
(1) identifying theme, design, target audience, and program content for the event,
(2) developing an interactive event schedule, and
(3) recruiting speakers and other event participants.

The purpose of the Membership Committee is to build and strengthen the membership of PASCV by recruiting, retaining, and engaging current and prospective members. The Committee will achieve these strategic goals, through, among other things,
(1) promoting the value of PASCV membership,
(2) engaging members and prospective members within the PASCV community, and
(3) developing innovative ways to attract and retain new members.

The purpose of the Nominations and Awards Committee is to manage the award nomination and selection process for the annual PASCV awards including the Clinical Virology, Diagnostic Virology, Young Investigator and travel awards, as well as the nomination and selection process for council and officer positions in PASCV. The Committee will achieve these strategic goals, through, among other things
(1) soliciting and obtaining a diverse and robust slate of nominees,
(2) examining eligibility and submission criteria, and
(3) actively engaging award recipients within the PASCV community.

The PASCV Annual Meeting is an annual event hosted by the Pan American Society for Clinical Virology (PASCV). PASCV Annual Meeting focuses on providing educational content related to practical issues in the area of molecular diagnostics. The workshop is planned and facilitated by an organizing committee, which plays a central role in developing the program and moderating the event. The core structure of the PASCV Annual Meeting organizing committee is as follows:
1. Senior organizing member (3-5 years of experience on the committee)
2. Organizing member (1-3 years of experience on the committee)
3. Junior organizing member (new member to 3 years of experience)
4. PASCV President (ex officio member)
5. PASCV Administrative Director (ex officio member)


Volunteer With PASCV

Vounteers must be active membersp of PASCV and agree to abide by PASCV Policies & Procedures and guidelines outlined within as a condition of volunteering with Pan American Society of Clinical Virology (PASCV).

Any PASCV member in good standing with annual dues paid may serve on a committee. PASCV committee members must have a high interest in PASCV and its programs, ability and willingness to participate in committee’s programs and meetings, and ability to work cooperatively as a team member.
